I am Darina Stoda Photography’s biggest fan. Ever since I met her back at my cousins wedding in 2013 I’ve basically been obsessed. And then you might have noticed we work quite a bit with the Swaffham and Fakenham florist sisters…So, when we all found out we we’re involved with Rachel and Lukes wedding it was all a bit too exciting.

Rachel had planned a home marquee wedding, I love a simple white canvas that can be transformed entirely. Through the use of lots of seasonal autumnal flora and fauna with pops of brighter colours of the candles in antique brass candlesticks this wedding was a dream. Centre piece flowers were in copper and brass vessels on the tables providing that timeless causal luxe look.

I ‘Lent-a-Hand‘ with setting up our pieces the day before, from the extended sweets ladder, vintage trolley and cake table dotting in extra stands and jars to make it a real statement feature. I love adding additional greenery and touches to our styled stations and the Swaffham girls always provide me with a few extra sprigs to finish the look.

I had wrote the table plan and cards sign too, and guests entered the marquee through our indoor wooden arch beautifully decorated with asymmetric floral arrangements. The evening photos are so romantic with a canopy of festoon lights high into the marquee ceiling. I mean is there anything about this not to love?!

AUTUMNAL WEDDING INSPIRATION AT GODWICK GREAT BARN.

So many of you will know my connection with Godwick Barn from past posts. I work there as one of their wedding planners as well as running LL, I’m super lucky to call this beautiful barn my work place. When James the owner of Godwick started planning his own wedding there in October last year I was so thrilled and excited to be a part of the day. Some of our little lends we’re taken to the barn on the set up day and I helped Aimee, the lovely Bride-to-be, with a few details.

This wedding is full of beautiful autumnal barn inspiration, seasonal colours, blooms and food. Wonderfully rustic and relaxed, the barn really hasn’t looked better. From the wooden tables to the trailing foliage and modern calligraphy signage this wedding was always going to steal my heart.
I just adore the colour mixes, the bright red berries with rich forrest green foliages and lots of berry tones against white highlights. These colours coupled with the midnight navy blue bridesmaids dresses and gents in traditional tweed is such a fab way of working with the natural seasonal tones for an Autumn celebration.

So many stunning details, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this….

NORFOLK SUMMER GARDEN MARQUEE REAL WEDDING.

It’s the best feeling being featured on a national wedding blog, especially the epic Love My Dress. So when our props popped up on our FB feed earlier this year with one of our Little Lenders from last summer with their beautiful home garden marquee wedding I squealed just a little. Sarah and Josh hired several of our pieces for her wedding, from log slices for that really impressive cheese tower to brass candle sticks used in the table centres, tin baths, drinks dispensers, glass candle cylinders, water bottles and lawn games.

I love to see what our brides create and this has to be one of my all time favourite marquee looks, beautifully simple, rustic and relaxed. The mix of soft colours through the candles and the shine from the brass and copper accents has me swooning still. For the full wedding head here.

PROPS SPOTLIGHT : ANTLERS AND SKULLS.

Yep anyone that knows me knows I love a good antler find. And to anyone that’s been to LLHQ you may have also spotted ’10 Spike Mike’ in the living room (A whopper of a deer skull often adorned with seasonal trimmings, maybe this is a little too far?!) I think the obsession started when I started to looking to Scandinavian inspiration for my home a few years ago, so naturally I started collecting antlers and skulls for the range too.

We thought we’d bring you some props spotlight posts and show just how versatile our props can be. Not looking for a scandi winter wedding? No problem, antlers and skulls sit so well into Summer boho cool or really rustic barn digs. It’s fair to say we’ve used them quite a bit in our own styled collaborations too…

Here’s a few more ideas; from softening up and prettying (that’s totally a word right?) with soft pastel florals paired with luxe rustic furnishings to keeping things more modern and simplified. Or go more aztec in direction to keep things fresh and oh so fab.

WHAT IS A WHITE WEDDING TODAY?

So we all have an image when we think of a ‘white wedding’ right; traditional big fluffy white dress, men in stiff suits and matching pink cravats and maybe a fancy rolls royce to take the wedding party to church. Bleugh.

I had what I’d call a ‘white wedding’ and there was none of that. I am a bit of a traditionalist at heart so for me I knew I’d always marry in white though.

Here’s what I think a white wedding should represent in 2015: A simplicity, a purity and a new beginning. No fuss, just easy bridal style and timelessly cool, chic decor.

I’m totally into White as a colour and how it can have so many layers and textures. White on white is a big theme for weddings this year and I can’t get enough. Uncomplicated, clean and modern is the only way white weddings should be heading.

Really, you get to be so much more creative with keeping to a simple palette; bringing in more textures and light from the ceremony right though to the table tops. As always folks, less is so much more and here in white, super duper stylish and looks so damn fine in photographs for years to come.

HOW TO MAKE S’MORES

A show of hands then please, who’s heard of a S’more before? Nope? Me neither until this summer when the weddings I was working at seemed to have more and more ‘S’mores Stations’ set out for their evening guests. OK, basically they are a melted marshmallow and chocolate sandwich. Totally Heavenly.

After a little googling, I found out that they are an American tradition started by campers in the early 20th Century after Marshmallows became mass produced and we’re light and easily packed along with Grahams crackers and chocolate bars in their backpacks. They got their name from ‘Some More’ which let me tell you, after one that’s all you’ll be saying…

There are now masses of adaptions on the original S’mores on Pinterest but to keep this super simple you’ll need : Grahams Crackers (These are a bit tricky to find over here so we’ve used Wheat Biscuits instead, but digestives are just as delicious) Chunks of milk chocolate, Large Marshmallows and Toasting sticks.

Melt your mallow, sandwich them up and enjoy! It’s so simple.

I love the idea of a little serving trolley to wheel out as the night air draws in filled with S’mores galore for guests to toast round the fire. If your venue doesn’t have anywhere for you to have a fire outside a S’mores bar with rows of tea lights for would be just as good. Who doesn’t love a midnight sugar fix after dancing the night away?

If you want to get a little more creative add chopped nuts, jam, fresh fruits or raisins, fudge, Rolo’s, Nutella or try using cookies for your biscuits instead. The possibilities are endless.

LADDER LOVE.

Ladders seem to be THE decorative item of 2014 and I’m pretty sure they’ll be sticking around into the new year and beyond with their timeless appeal. With so much scope I’ve got a lot of time for ladders, you could say collecting them has turned into an obsession…

Mini ones, Extra tall ones, Painted ones, paired ones we seem to have the ladder for every occasion right here at Little Lending HQ. So, what will you do with yours?

Perhaps you’ll go with showing guests the way, they make pretty great stands for welcome and direction signage.

Or maybe you’ll help guests to their seats with a creative table plan or escot card system strung across the steps.

They really do make beauties of backdrops and will give your photographer some dreamy set ups to shoot.

Get sentimental by displaying photographs of loved ones who can’t be there or ladies handkerchiefs for the ceremony. Just love the idea of using a ladder pair as an interactive guest book too with strings across the legs hanging up your guests polaroid snaps.

Have your first celebratory drinks served from wooden steps.

Or maybe you’ll go for our duo making the perfect alternative to a cake table station like we styled here with ours as featured on B.Loved blog.

A CREATIVE EYE.
