MAKE YOUR WEDDING DECOR ROCK.

If you’re reading this you’d really like your wedding decor to ROCK. So I’ve put together a few images from some of our favourite sites to show how you can do just that and without using lots of cash from the wedding kitty. From making a statement entrance that will get your guests talking to making sure your food platform packs a punch we think these 5 top tips will really make an impact on your decor.

1. MAKE A STATEMENT ENTRANCE.

A big statement welcome will set your day off with a bang. Right from the first moment guests arrive capture their imagination. A chalkboard with hand written message and crates of flowers looks amazing on this stairwell. Scatter through some tea lights in jars, vintage cameras or old typewriters for a little more interest. Or go big and bold with a bike, I adored this look this summer using large props to lead the way.

2. A WARM WELCOME.

Pouring delicious drinks from dispensers into Jam jars or little bottles will really make that first congratulatory drink a great one. Think about added interest with hand painted signage and a kooky base to serve the drinks from, an old dresser or stacked hay bales and boxes. Use old tin baths or troughs and barrows to keep the beers for the boys cool. Trust me they’ll be going back for another.

3. HAVE SOME FUN.

Have a little fun with your decor ideas. Some of my favourite pins are those with sweet messages or personal quotes from books or films. Dabble in a DIY day and create something truly unique from found items. Dreamcatchers have my heart at the moment but macrame back drops and featuring feathers make for a cool, chilled out look too.

4. GIVE YOUR FOOD A PLATFORM.

Give a little thought to your food service. Wether it’s a buffet or bbq think about how it’s served up. Add some height with up turned apple crates and mix up the serving platters, plates and boards. Wood and slate keep things relaxed and adding some white china and glass keep the styling laid back. Little open cabinets make it an exciting little trip to fill your plate.

5. LIGHT UP THE NIGHT.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, lighting is everything at your venue. It totally sets the mood and feel for the day and long into the night. My obsession with festoon lighting continues – As a ceremony backdrop, strung outside to light pathways or to add some sparkle over the dance floor they’re not going anywhere and will remain a firm favourite with us. Candle light is timeless, think about new ways of working candle light in your space.

STYLING YOUR RUSTIC SPACES.

Back in August we were asked by the gorgeous Emma at Coco wedding Venues with her rather fabulous wedding blog to style feature that was right up our alley. ’15 Rustic Wedding styling tips.’ Of Course I jumped at the chance and couldn’t wait for a day setting up our wares at Godwick Great Barn in the middle of the Norfolk countryside.

The beautiful barn backdrop and remote setting was a rustic prop hire companies dream space. We asked Summer Love Photography to take all these stunning photos and The Country Garden Florist to bring along her fresh florals to help us pretty the props. A big thanks to Rose and Glory Cake company too for the dove grey stacked cake.

There is never just one idea for our props, and we’re all about thinking outside that styling box for new and exciting ways to use our timeless treasures. From our much loved vintage bike to our working typewriters there’s sure to be something to inspire your styling for all those relaxed wedding venues you’ve chosen. Filling cubby holes with old storm lanterns to troughs stashing your favours, cute crates filled with blankets to DIY tipi’s topped with antlers and foliage…I’m going to let the pictures do the talking.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US.

BIRTHDAYCAKE

I can’t quite believe it’s been a year since starting this Little adventure. I almost don’t recognise it from 12 months ago. Today feels good, I mean really good. Its still just so exciting to think I have created this from scratch.

This post may get a little soppy and gushy but there are just a few people that have been there to help me along the way I must mention.

I’ve made some pretty awesome supplier wedding friends already, Tatum Reid Photography has been so encouraging of my little vision of offering something more alternative to the local wedding scene. Donna at The Country Garden Florist I just gel with and we seem to be on the same page with our collaborations, Darena of DS Photography has taken some beautiful images in our styled shoots, Emma at Buns of Fun and Laura of Betty’s beauty, Charlotte of Lotties Florigami, Georgina Suzanne MUA have all been just lovely to work with…I could go on and on.
It’s been a total pleasure to find such passionate and supportive women in this industry who just want to create and inspire like me. So here is a little quote for you ladies, ‘It’s more amazing what we can accomplish when we’re in it together.’ Don’t you think?

There are a few beautiful venues too that have sent a few little lenders our way and this has not gone un-noticed, The Red Barn, Godwick Great Barn and Narborough Hall Gardens. So thankyou.

To the blogs that have featured us, thank you so much for sharing our work – Festival Brides with our Woodland Picnic shoot and The Green Party dessert table shoot, B.Loved shared our work on Rustic Glamour and A Modern Fairytale, Whimsical Wonderland Weddings our To the Manor Born shoot and Coco Wedding Venues our Beautiful Boudoir shoot giving us a ‘Loved by Coco’ post which made my heart burst with pride to think our little company is loved by industry pros. It has given me so much confidence in my styling and concepts to see my ideas shared has given my some of the biggest smiles in this last year knowing lots of excited brides-to-be will have seen them and will want to re-create it for their own days.

It’s not been a walk in the park, I’ve made mistakes and sometimes it’s blooming hard going but when I start to doubt myself I know I have my husband right there at my side picking me up and carrying me emotionally though this brilliant journey of running my own company. My two lovely lots of parents also have to be mentioned because there is so much behind the scenes stuff they’re doing day in day out. (Don’t worry I’m not blabbing just yet!)

Then of course there are you guys, our blog readers, our Facebook followers, fellow Instagrammers, Pinners and Tweeters. Everyone comment is read and so gratefully received. And lastly our Little Lenders themselves who have made this first year pretty incredible…we’ve already delivered to over 50 weddings in the last year and have lots more to come this summer! So thank you, we have loved being a part of your days with our little lends.

We’ve got a whole lot more planned for this next year and I just can’t wait to get stuck in…after I devour this cake that is.

So finally, Follow your dreams – I am just a girl who decided to give it a go and here I am doing something I adore everyday.

NOSTALGIC ENTERTAINING.

Ok your a wedding guest. You’ve had the wedding breakfast, speeches are all done so whats next in those couple of hours before strutting your stuff on the dance floor?
Picture (if you can) a warm summers afternoon, a jam jar full of Pimms, guests all around you lazing on the grass as you catch up with old faces, and the kids, well they’re just getting up to mischief and running riot on all the sugar!….Afternoon entertainment for them is a must if not for the big kids too.

There has to be nothing better than an easy game of Dominoes in the Sun, or a round of croquet with some of the hens you met earlier at the hen weekend. I really believe that you can’t beat some traditional English Lawn games to fill that time up perfectly, and also create conversations and good banter between guests.

Mini Croquet

Nostalgic entertainment really brings people togehter, elders talking about days gone by bringing up magical childhood memories for them who end up sharing their stories of summer school sports days or games they used to have to waste long summer holidays. A perfect way for guests of all ages to engage. What more could you want than all your guests laughing along together as Grandad tries to remember his best Sack race technique or Uncle Gary showing how a game of croquet is actually played….

Giving your afternoon a little structure, a mini sports day if you like, could really make the most of those ‘lull’ hours. Try sack races and obstacle courses, egg and spoon race and perhaps a Tug-o-war competition with Hens V stags – imagine the brilliant photo opportunities!
