ALTERNATIVE WEDDING INSPO AT THE KEEPER AND THE DELL.

For those of us that have followed us for a while you’ll know we love a photoshoot. It’s a chance to get together with like minded people and get those creative juices flowing. And theres always a new prop buy I’ve been wanting to style up…

So last year Lolly at The Keeper and the Dell asked us if we’d like to be involved with a shoot over at her incredible venue. A chilled out, eclectic shoot with Norfolk’s coolest suppliers with all the love and glamour of a Mediterranean gathering to be a loose theme of the day. In Lolly from The Keeper and the Dell’s words, “Imagine an artistic/celebrity couple with a true eclectic edge, wanting to marry in crazy England but with a Mediterranean connection. Capturing the feel of photographer Tim Walker (but staying this side of crazy) with the glorious glamour feel of a Dolce & Gabbana family gathering.”

Well it was just that. Extravagant staging, boho styling, romantic motifs, bold colours, a powerful sense of family and above all, a strong editorial shooting style….

I loved mixing all the colour with this one, all the rules went out of the window creating something really eclectic and gave the nod to the Med we were looking for.

INTIMATE CHAUCER BARN MID-SUMMER WEDDING.

Oh summer, I cannot wait to see you again. Mostly because we get to help set up and style more Norfolk weddings. It’s going to be fab.
We loved meeting and helping set up Julie and Matthews intimate pretty, pastel wedding at Chaucer Barn with our ‘Lend-a-hand‘ set up package in North Norfolk last summer.

Here’s what Julie had to say about us lending-a-hand.

“I loved thinking about the wedding and had an idea in my mind of how I wanted it to be, but I hated not knowing how to achieve it! Penny helped with this no end, both when we visited her to look at her collection of lends and when she lent a hand the day before to set everything up. She knew Chaucer Barn well so could visualise where we could put things and how much space there was and where etc.”

“I thought of our wedding as classy traditional, with a touch of modern vintage (if you know what I mean!). Lots of hessian and lace. If you have a vision but, like me, aren’t sure how to bring it to fruition, then I’d absolutely recommend chatting to Penny about your ideas and she is so unbelievably creative and can add so many brilliant ideas!”

“The lend-a-hand set up took the pressure off and helped me to get super excited about the venue! Penny really helped bring the wedding to life and I was so impressed by how out of her way she went to intertwine the things we had hired from her with the bits and pieces I’d sourced myself.”

MINI DECOR TREND : WEDDING DREAMCATCHERS.

You’ll all know by now I like to walk off the beaten track when it comes to wedding decor, bohemian, industrial, rustic…
Well it’s no surprise then that I’m going a little loopy for all the dreamcatchers that keep popping up on my Pinterest. This, ladies and gents is a decor trend that is cool as a crop load of cucumbers.

From big, bold hanging pieces for ceremony focal points to sweet little dreamcatcher favours for place settings or with escort cards they have stolen my heart. They are the perfect symbolism for weddings with the idea of ‘good dreams’ only that filter through the web. From stationery designs too they are becoming big news through all aspects of wedding design, I’ve even speed a few wedding cakes with them painted on too.

They are perfect for a DIY couple, we had a go turning our bike wheel into a simple dreamcatchcer on this post last year. Think outside the box for your starting point and there are no rule that they need to be round…
I love the use of lights with them and using different materials to create them, lace fabric, macrame knot techniques, dip dyed ombre fabric ribbons.

WE’RE 2 YEARS OLD…

What?! When did we get to be two years old….?

Image via Flickr. More Party Pins this way.

I just can’t believe we’ve been doing this for 2 years. I think I’ve just been having too much fun to notice that it’s been 2 whole years. Right now our teeth are most firmly stuck into our busiest part of wedding season with deliveries and collections flying in and out as well as styling set up’s and pack downs. The show shed looks like a bomb went off, the hubby is tearing is hair out (if he had any!) over the state of our kitchen full of glasswear to wash and I’m often burning the candle at both ends trying to manage the inbox, but honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m having a blast!

I do tend to go a little gushy on our year posts, but I’m going to keep this one short and sweet. THANK YOU.
Each and everyone of you that continues to keep our little lending dreams afloat; every wonderful little lender this year, fellow facebookers, instagram follower, industry sidekick and general little lending lovers you rock and wouldn’t get to do this everyday with your your support. I’m so thankful you’ve got my back.

To show our appreciation to you all, we’re going to give you a little birthday treat. For all brand new enquires until the end of August we’re offering 10% the total of your orders over £100. Just quote BIRTHDAY10 somewhere in your email or message to us.

G & T LIGHT UP LETTERS PHOTOSHOOT.

You guys must think I’m forever on photo shoots! Lately it feels like I am hopping from one to another and never get to show you the full results, just those little sneak peeks on our Instagram. So that’s why to feels great to share these shots from Tatum Reid Photography of a product shoot from the winter with G & T Typography.

We headed to a scrap yard, full of eerie charm and shot on old cars, fire engines and used derelict houses as a back drop. I took along my ladder and plank for one of the set ups.

We then headed to a forgotten little barn and filled with smaller props form the range to compliment the letters and shapes. From little wooden drawers, stoneware bottles, potted plants and lanterns I created little pockets of detail around those pretty awesome lights.

For the bigger set we used our trolley, small rug and hanging lamp shades to set the scene and popped in books and antlers for a cool, eclectic home feel contrasted against our industrial surrounds.

But our old vintage bike had to be my favourite and loved the mini polaroids from the shots of Georgie and Tim at G & T at the end.

Seriously though, head to G & T’s brand new site and put one in your basket.

2015 WEDDING TRENDS.

At The Little Lending Co. we’re all about embracing your individualism and taking a side-step away from what your wedding ‘should’ look like. This year especially I’m sure couples will be infusing more charm and character of their own, their quirks, interests and loves for more relaxed, stylish and unique days.

….But, there are 4 key themes we seem to be pinning daily and they’re making us really excited about the year ahead. We’re not saying stick to the trends and we love a couple that do just the opposite but these ideas are making us crazy about 2015 and what our couples will be creating.

MODERN BRIGHT

Oh yes! Colour pops and fluro highlights – tell your guests to bring their sunnies as it’s about to all get a little brighter. Loving the popping pinks and luminous oranges that have been paired up with shimmering gold highlights all over Pinterest. Think Dip dyed napkins (*blog post coming soon*) striking and geo-metric patterned table runners, modern mid-century furnishing and more cacti and succulents you can shake a stick at. Hanging Himmeli shapes and eccentric bold florals. Pop a couple of plastic flamingos in the mix and you have the perfect nod to a modern, hot summers celebration. Definatley not a look for the faint hearted this one.

NOMAD SPIRIT

For the pair that love the outdoors, our freedom seekers. Free Spirited and bohemian decor is going to move forward into 2015. We’re excited about seeing more beautiful boho brides and their boys create the ultimate in laid-back days. Kick off your shoes and tie feathers in your hair. Add natural, textural and found items through your decor. Dream Catchers as a focal point, Antlers, drift wood and pebble place settings against true linen napkins and runners. An easy palette of mushroom and dove greys subtly paired with gem stone pinks and well-trod faded colours from traditional persian rugs under foot. Divine.

INDUSTRIAL COOL

A huge fan here of industrial settings and go mad over a warehouse wedding. Bare brick walls, exposed copper pipes and a big lighting statement is what you’ll need for this look. Bring beaten up eclectic furniture for lounging areas for guests. Cool concrete accents and copper containers feel new. Quirky catering vans and stations really makes this a winning cool kids dream trend. Use old palettes for feature walls or bars and work in metal drawers and filing cabinets *coming soon to our hire range* for something different for guests to find their favours. Still adore a string of festoon lights to brighten up the evening.

SIMPLISTIC MINIMALISM

I am always for ‘Less is More’ – I really believe in the ethos of the simpler the better. Minimal decor and fuss creates for more focus on the newly weds. White on white has a pure ceremonial quality about it. White cloths, flowers and dress. Totally Timeless. I love the botanical and slightly over-grown elements that can add an etherial feel for this trend – over-run glasshouses or greenery hanging above the tables or tubing trails of green and white on tables. Add clear vessels and glass bottles with single stems in nooks. Bare wooden table tops and rustic ‘home-made’ displayed finger foods for the wedding breakfast keep everything easy. Bring a whole lot of white candle light in the evening for a subtle finish.

HELLO 2015.

94fd6c40eb1fc79b02e5187a1a515759

It’s taken me a few days (probably because I was still full of Christmas cheese and Disaronno) but I am finally excited to get started on this year. Who’s with me?

With so much to look forward to and the Little Lending 2015 diary filling up for another busy season ahead I’m going to embrace this new year energy.
Each and every day I’ll try to fill with a new possibility – ‘When your mind is open the opportunity is endless’ don’t they say.

I hope to continue on with the Little Lending ethos of providing original, timeless inspiration to creative, stylish couples planning their wedding day this year. There will be more new products coming your way, more styled shoots and collaborations with other local suppliers to give you ideas of how to style our growing assortment of props. Plus you can meet us at some of our favourite wedding fairs across Norfolk too. (Just keep an eye on our Facebook page for info of fairs we’ll be at.)

We’ve been busy scribbling ideas down for more blog posts too and next week there will be our look at emerging 2015 wedding trends that we love and actually want to jump on board with. Plus more posts with helpful tips and DIY ideas you might want to try. We’re also uber excited about being a B.loved blog contributor this year and have a few ideas in our pipeline we’re working on exclusively for them.

And if you’ve followed us a while on Instagram, you may have spotted behind the scenes snaps on our Botanical concept shoot back in October. But next week we’ll be able to share all the inspiration as we’re featured on a brilliant international wedding blog. Hooray!

Wishing you all an awesome year and if you’re a 2015 Little Lender we are ridiculously excited for you.

(A little added important note for our Little Lenders this year : If you have pencilled items in with us this year we do require a booking deposit to secure them for your date and sadly cannot hold items as the Summer months are looking incredibly busy.)

2015, Let’s do this…

SPRING GARDEN BLOOM SHOOT.

We just love to collaborate with like minded companies and after meeting the fantastic Julie at Buds in Bloom, I just knew we’d hit it off both personally and creatively through our work together.

We wanted to celebrate the start of spring (and the end of a very long winter) taking to the garden where the daffodils were just starting to show. Through loose and pretty floral mixes in vibrant colours they sat perfectly paired back with some of our new hire items that had been stored away all winter.

Hanging vintage glass bottles or bunting in trees makes for a great backdrop for guests photos or the perfect entrance with some DIY hanging signage too. Its also the debut of our milk churns which really pack some punch full of Julie’s floral decor.

It really is a wonderful, colourful time…
