INTIMATE GODWICK HALL ELOPEMENT SHOOT

Back in the spring we created a very simple, styled shoot at Godwick Hall. They have the most incredible Georgian house with stunning decor where intimate ceremonies can be held with your favourite people. I’m in love with the idea of elopement, ‘run-away’ weddings right now and where all the focus is on the couple and their love for one another.
Doesn’t the idea of driving miles away from home to somewhere peaceful and remote to say your vows to one another sound like the ultimate romantic adventure?

I kept to a palette of white mostly and fresh green for the set up, with florals to be seasonal and foliages to create lots movement. There was a foodie emphasis for the shoot, well why not go all out on the catering if you’re celebrating with just a few people to make it really the best meal ever. We set up an outdoor ceremony space in the garden and also two options in the hall too, with minimal decor pieces, using brass candle sticks and vessels and a few cut glass candle holders to add a little luxe. An old roll top bottle green car was a favourite in the shoot and the words ‘Come away with me’ that I wrote on the window.

ALTERNATIVE PHOTO BACKDROPS.

If you’re getting hitched this Summer you’ll most definitely be thinking about details and the little design elements that will make your day super special and personalised. If you’re looking for some inspo for a beautiful back drop for your guest photos, which is a little more sophisticated than a box of props in front of a red curtain inside a shoe-box sized booth, then this post may spark a few ideas. I didn’t have a photo booth at my own wedding because I wanted to have pictures of the day that were totally natural, but something can really be said for staging gorgeous group shots that you’ll treasure forever.

DRAPES
Cost effect and oh so simple to add a little interest to a wall or corner at your venue. Mix different textures of fabrics and also foliage in for a little more detail.

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 21.57.30

STRUCTURES
Create a structure to add flowers to – From old screens and doors to metal frames and wire grids for something more contemporary.

ORGANIC
Talk to your florist about creating an organic wall feature. Use old ladders or frames to start the piece off. So beautiful as a stand alone feature on your big day. These pieces would work best hung or placed off centre for framing the shots.

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 21.54.00

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 22.10.17

BOHEMIAN
Go for a bohemian corner or space for guests to relax as well as provide a stunning photo opportunities. Use peacock chairs or tipi frames as a starting point to build up the area and lay Persian rugs. Add candles for evening photography to be soft and intimate.

It’s about creating something beautiful and timeless and to look back at your wedding photos in years to come and enjoy them just as much.

WE’RE 2 YEARS OLD…

What?! When did we get to be two years old….?

Image via Flickr. More Party Pins this way.

I just can’t believe we’ve been doing this for 2 years. I think I’ve just been having too much fun to notice that it’s been 2 whole years. Right now our teeth are most firmly stuck into our busiest part of wedding season with deliveries and collections flying in and out as well as styling set up’s and pack downs. The show shed looks like a bomb went off, the hubby is tearing is hair out (if he had any!) over the state of our kitchen full of glasswear to wash and I’m often burning the candle at both ends trying to manage the inbox, but honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m having a blast!

I do tend to go a little gushy on our year posts, but I’m going to keep this one short and sweet. THANK YOU.
Each and everyone of you that continues to keep our little lending dreams afloat; every wonderful little lender this year, fellow facebookers, instagram follower, industry sidekick and general little lending lovers you rock and wouldn’t get to do this everyday with your your support. I’m so thankful you’ve got my back.

To show our appreciation to you all, we’re going to give you a little birthday treat. For all brand new enquires until the end of August we’re offering 10% the total of your orders over £100. Just quote BIRTHDAY10 somewhere in your email or message to us.

SUFFOLK BARN WEDDING WITH MODERN CALLIGRAPHY.

Country Cool Barn weddings still get me every time and this one is totally up our alley.

When Polly got in touch to start planning her day from all the way over in Australia I got just a little bit excited about some of the items she was adding to her ‘Little Lending’ basket, this was going to be gorgeous…And the pictures by Tori Hancock prove just that. Especially when she asked us to work on a set of blackboards with our modern calligraphy styled writing.

10 FAB WEDDING LOUNGE SPACES.

Image via Design Connection.

Wedding Lounging is so hot right now. Giving your guests somewhere comfortable and informal to relax into your day is just about the best solution to the ‘afternoon lull’ that everyone talks about. Stuffed to the brim with delicious wedding food and booze, all you actually want to do is curl up in the corner and have a breather for an hour. Little Lenders, give the people what they want…

1 // LIVING ROOM LOUNGING
Create the ultimate ‘lounge experience’ with guest feeling right at home. Cue mixed British design furniture, kitsch lamp shades strung above and textured cushions for this look.

Rock my wedding

2 // HAYBALING
Yup, still a firm favourite for rustic and country weddings – the hay bale sofa. Throw over some crochet blankets for a little more comfort which would also come in handy for the evening setting in. Fire pits are the perfect accompaniment. Guests will love this, trust us.

e0a147b92b287929684945ca08932af3

3 // BOHEMIA DEN
Create a secret bohemian den under the trees with soft drapes. Lay mixed persian rugs and cushions for real laid back vibes. Hanging features above look divine to really make an impact and festoon lights for when darkness falls.

4 // DECKCHAIR DELIGHT
Bring a little nostalgia into the mix with mis-matched striped deckchairs. So British. ‘Bride and Groom’ chair backs adds a extra little detail and a smile to faces.

5 // ECCLECTIC COOL
This space is everything. One off pieces, mixes of bold patterns, colour and texture. Bohemian brides are going to love this. Center and side tables with floral and small decor details looks really rad and double up as somewhere for guests to rest drinks.

6 // INDIVIDUAL SPACES
Want to give your guests a little alone time while you have yours? Individual rugs and cushions scattered outside do just that. Perfect too if you’re planning a picnic wedding.

7 // ALL PILE ON
Or go the other way, create a great big pile of rugs and cushions – Free for all! Trays and low tables with lanterns and places for drinks keep this practical.

8 // CINEMA CHILLING
This idea I am mad about. I actually wanted to create this at our own day but couldn’t pull it off in time. Share your ceremony with evening guests that might not have seen you say ‘I do’ or why not create a video of you and your new hubby’s highlights through the years.

9 // LOW DOWN LOUNGE
With pouffes and upturned halved barrels this is all about getting guests to go low. Not one for the oldies but your pals are going to get right into this. The perfect spot to relax after cutting some rug on the dance floor.

10 // DIY TIPI
Create your own tipi filled with cosy cushions for couples piled at the back. Also a sweet spot for a couple of styled shots with your photographer on the day. With crochet bunting dotted above and jam jar tea lights leading a pathway in the evening this is beyond cute right?

A SIMPLE WHITE BARN WEDDING.

Norfolk-Wedding-Photographer-Wingfield-Barms-Ali-Adam_0067

OK, I think you all know I have a real thing for white. It’s probably my favourite colour (some would say it’s not a colour, but let’s not argue that one now) it’s clean, crisp and most importantly forever cool in wedding decor. Something so ceremonial and pure about it just makes my heart do a little flutter.

If you’ve been with us a while you’ll have seen us share the link to this stunning white and peach pop wedding at Wingfield Barns on our social media last year but today I want to share more details that are just plain and simply, delicious.

Ali and Adam hired our white paper poms to hang from the beams of the barn and used them as a feature on the table they signed the register. I’m a huge fan of adding white to white.

I really loved that they mixed our flat white china stands and our tiered stands on their dessert table to create some height along with our wooden slices for their sweet treats. Rustic simplicity at it’s best.

2015 WEDDING TRENDS.

At The Little Lending Co. we’re all about embracing your individualism and taking a side-step away from what your wedding ‘should’ look like. This year especially I’m sure couples will be infusing more charm and character of their own, their quirks, interests and loves for more relaxed, stylish and unique days.

….But, there are 4 key themes we seem to be pinning daily and they’re making us really excited about the year ahead. We’re not saying stick to the trends and we love a couple that do just the opposite but these ideas are making us crazy about 2015 and what our couples will be creating.

MODERN BRIGHT

Oh yes! Colour pops and fluro highlights – tell your guests to bring their sunnies as it’s about to all get a little brighter. Loving the popping pinks and luminous oranges that have been paired up with shimmering gold highlights all over Pinterest. Think Dip dyed napkins (*blog post coming soon*) striking and geo-metric patterned table runners, modern mid-century furnishing and more cacti and succulents you can shake a stick at. Hanging Himmeli shapes and eccentric bold florals. Pop a couple of plastic flamingos in the mix and you have the perfect nod to a modern, hot summers celebration. Definatley not a look for the faint hearted this one.

NOMAD SPIRIT

For the pair that love the outdoors, our freedom seekers. Free Spirited and bohemian decor is going to move forward into 2015. We’re excited about seeing more beautiful boho brides and their boys create the ultimate in laid-back days. Kick off your shoes and tie feathers in your hair. Add natural, textural and found items through your decor. Dream Catchers as a focal point, Antlers, drift wood and pebble place settings against true linen napkins and runners. An easy palette of mushroom and dove greys subtly paired with gem stone pinks and well-trod faded colours from traditional persian rugs under foot. Divine.

INDUSTRIAL COOL

A huge fan here of industrial settings and go mad over a warehouse wedding. Bare brick walls, exposed copper pipes and a big lighting statement is what you’ll need for this look. Bring beaten up eclectic furniture for lounging areas for guests. Cool concrete accents and copper containers feel new. Quirky catering vans and stations really makes this a winning cool kids dream trend. Use old palettes for feature walls or bars and work in metal drawers and filing cabinets *coming soon to our hire range* for something different for guests to find their favours. Still adore a string of festoon lights to brighten up the evening.

SIMPLISTIC MINIMALISM

I am always for ‘Less is More’ – I really believe in the ethos of the simpler the better. Minimal decor and fuss creates for more focus on the newly weds. White on white has a pure ceremonial quality about it. White cloths, flowers and dress. Totally Timeless. I love the botanical and slightly over-grown elements that can add an etherial feel for this trend – over-run glasshouses or greenery hanging above the tables or tubing trails of green and white on tables. Add clear vessels and glass bottles with single stems in nooks. Bare wooden table tops and rustic ‘home-made’ displayed finger foods for the wedding breakfast keep everything easy. Bring a whole lot of white candle light in the evening for a subtle finish.

POEMS OF LOVE.

We’ll we’re heading straight for it. Love it or have it, there is just no escaping Valentines Day.

Each year there seem to be more cards, chocs and flowers filling the shop floors to shower our loved ones our affection. But I’m stepping away from all that and looking at the beauty of the written word to let my favourite know just how much he means to me.

I wrote a poem on the inside of his wedding day card and thought about every word and line to really tell him how I felt. Is there anything better to evoke emotion than a heart-felt poem to show you care?

Tyler Knott Gregson 1

I came accross a wonderful poet who’s use of words in his short poems and Haikus I really connected with. Tyler Knott Gregson.
It was his typewriter series that I loved, taking just a few minuites a day to type on his antique typewriter onto any scrap piece of paper lying around; an envelope, a ripped book and even monopoly money. And he hasn’t missed a day since starting.

Tyler Knott Gregson 2

Knott Gregson says ‘I love words more than any other art form. I think it’s the fact that everyone is given the same 26 letters and that all creativity comes from putting them together in different ways, forming them together in ways that feel beautiful or feel ugly or feel however you are trying to portray them feeling.’

tyler3

He writes mainly about love and his reasons for it – ‘I think, and always have thought, that love is the reason we’re here. I think it’s the answer to the question as to why we are what we are. All kinds of love, romantic, platonic, familial, whatever, to give out love without any regard on getting it back…it’s the reason.’

If you like these poems, there are so many more at http://tylerknott.com

I’ve loved tapping away on our old typewriter this week. They are beautiful machines that bring back a warm fuzzy feeling of nostalgia, perfect for writing your own love story. Get in touch if you’d love to write yours for your wedding day.

Have a great Valentines.
Lots of Love,
