WHITE ON WHITE IS ALRIGHT.

I’m finally made some time to bring back one of our favourite shoots of last year to our little blog. One of the biggest collaborations back in May was with the super cool Festival Brides blog, I can’t tell you how much I loved working with this awesome UK wedding blog. Here’s how our white on white shoot came together….

bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-242final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-239final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-237final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-235final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-233final

The idea of a modern, simple white wedding has been something I’ve been obsessed with for a while. So many stunning white-on-white images we’re flooding my Pinterest and it had been on my radar for a while to work on something very minimal and play with the idea of layering all the whites. White symoblises purity; a cleanliness and innocence, it’s a stunning colour in its own right and if you’re looking for a minimal timeless palette for your wedding, just keep it easy with all white tones and a tonne of greenery to boot.

I was keen for all the suppliers involved to bring their creativity to the shoot, I really wanted to capture lots of subtle textures. I worked with the florists and talked about lots of white seasonal flowers, from big blossomy blooms to more modern leafy and whispy stems to really create something a little unruly, home-grown and wild on the flower front. Emma at Buns of Fun on the cakes made a trio of cakes, something we’d been thinking about for some time. I love the idea of a mix of textural finishes on the cake stacks and created a platform display for the 3 cakes. It made for some really interesting shots that were captured in the candle light.

bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-232final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-229final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-220final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-214final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-210final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-208final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-207final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-205final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-203final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-199final bethmoseleyphotography_whiteonwhite-197final

Our table scape was draped with an organic white cotton muslin, and also had a spotty white net sheer fabric; they really helped create the base once rouched to nestle props among.

The stationery was super modern, clean and cool. It fitted into the table setting perfectly. Emma Jo also made the most delicate little paper fern leaves for the plates.

We went for 3 big backdrop set ups at the venue. A very soft chalky grey marble effect cotton backdrop. This was a DIY effort from myself before the shoot. Created by using a large cotton sheet, make sure its damp to start with, then using fabric paint that was watered down mixing black and white paints I created a type of cloud/marble effect with a large brush in super soft greys. Darker grey was used with a smaller brush to create outlines within the brush shapes. On the day we then used trailing clematis with pins onto the draped fabric for the ultimate romantic frame.

The second backdrop was all from foraged branches and leaves. With Michelle from the florists we worked carefully into the walls of the barn with small pins again creating a frame work for the branches to lightly sit. We built it up almost to the top of the barn wall in one area. It was a stunning wild backdrop that gave the illusion of living plants growing inside.

The final backdrop was our Wallpaper from Graham and Brown taped and hung behind our table. We then white spray painted some fresh leaves and flower heads, these we’re then taped to the wall paper sporadically to create a 3D element and again creating more texture and shades of white against the crumbling painted exterior wall.

It was important to achieve something very uncomplicated, cool and fresh. You can be so much more creative with a simple palette because you start to think about other elements; the light, the texture and the tones and shapes that can be formed. Less is always so much more for me as a stylist. The key to the white-on-white look not being underwhelming is of course adding interest with the textures, using interesting cut glass tumblers or glazed ceramic plates on the tables. With an abundence of white candle light a white-on-white reception can be soothing and tranquil and totally breathtaking.

WILD BOHEMIA AT THE MOST UNUSUAL WEDDING FAIR.

So this wedding fair season I’m not going to be exhibiting at as many local fairs. It’s been a decision that’s been hard to make as I love meeting newly engaged couples couples and talking all of the wedding talk and I really love creating displays of props to inspire you guys, but I’m lucky enough to be getting pretty full for the key summer dates next Summer already, which feels very lovely and exciting.

There is one date that you really must add to your diary for next month. It’s the Most Unusual Wedding fair at Godwick Barn on November 6th. I do use the word epic a lot (I know, I’ll reign that in!) but this really is going to be.

I’m creating another styled outdoor ceremony set up under the vibe of ‘Wild Bohemia’ so if this mood board below looks a little bit of you, you should definitely come and see it/us there! Because this is our only wedding fair this side of Christmas we’re seriously going to be pulling out all the stops with our collaborative effort with the Swaffham Florist sisters again.

wild-bohemia

To give you all the feels of this wedding direction for 2017 and beyond here is a little more of what you can expect to see…

“Bohemia moves on to become a little more relaxed, full of natural unruly beauty, and Godwick is the perfect wild and untouched setting to host this look.
Taking cues from the current interior movement to Bohemian textiles, a more natural palette born from the earth and lots of textural interest. A richness of deep mulberry, warm mustard, soft mocha and dusky pinks make up the colour range for this look.
Think battered Persian rugs, old lanterns, natural wood, foraged foliages and highlights of vintage brass and copper with an abundance of candlelight.”

Get yourself registered here, this is going to be good!

AUTUMNAL WEDDING INSPIRATION AT GODWICK GREAT BARN.

barn-wedding-venues-in-norfolk-godwick-great-barn-wedding-80

So many of you will know my connection with Godwick Barn from past posts. I work there as one of their wedding planners as well as running LL, I’m super lucky to call this beautiful barn my work place. When James the owner of Godwick started planning his own wedding there in October last year I was so thrilled and excited to be a part of the day. Some of our little lends we’re taken to the barn on the set up day and I helped Aimee, the lovely Bride-to-be, with a few details.

This wedding is full of beautiful autumnal barn inspiration, seasonal colours, blooms and food. Wonderfully rustic and relaxed, the barn really hasn’t looked better. From the wooden tables to the trailing foliage and modern calligraphy signage this wedding was always going to steal my heart.
I just adore the colour mixes, the bright red berries with rich forrest green foliages and lots of berry tones against white highlights. These colours coupled with the midnight navy blue bridesmaids dresses and gents in traditional tweed is such a fab way of working with the natural seasonal tones for an Autumn celebration.

So many stunning details, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this….

10 WEDDING DETAILS NOT TO FORGET.

The stylist in me loves a detail shot, honestly, possibly even a little bit more that the ones with people in which I don’t know if I should admit that! I just get really excited about a lovely little styled detail from a wedding that some one has really considered and put some loving thought into.

So I wanted to share some details not to forget if you’re going in for all of the detail with your big do.

INVITES
On our instagram this week it was our top tip to make sure you have a full set of stationery for your wedding stylist of wedding photographer on the wedding day. From the save the date, to place names, menu, invite…Pull in some details or flowers around them to create something sweet as a lovely reminder of all the effort that creating your paper pretty.

THE DRESS SHOT
Don’t be like me and leave it on the bathroom door….! Think about the placement, the hanger and dressing it perhaps with flowers or other accesorries you’ll be wearing.

BOYS DETAILS
The guys need nice details too, maybe a little boys box with their accessories, button holes, a glass of their dutch courage and cigars on a sideboard maybe…

BAR STYLING
Have a little fun with added details, a bar always needs signage, some flowers and candles. Add a little of you two too.

CHAIRS
I’m all about the chair swag, so much so I gave them their own pin board. Think of florals to signage, diy garlands and trinkets that represent you two.

LIGHTING.
Always banging on about lighting, I know but think about the atmosphere you want to create. Clustered tea lights in cubby holes and simple church candles do all the work.

TABLE PLAN
This can be creative, all too often it’s just sat on an easel. Think about creating a fab display using items that are personal to you both.

TOP TABLE MAGIC
Add a little extra to where you two will be sat. Either through the decor or a different floral centre piece. Or think about hanging a backdrop behind where you’ll be sitting. After all there be lots of pictures taken here.

NORFOLK SUMMER GARDEN MARQUEE REAL WEDDING.

It’s the best feeling being featured on a national wedding blog, especially the epic Love My Dress. So when our props popped up on our FB feed earlier this year with one of our Little Lenders from last summer with their beautiful home garden marquee wedding I squealed just a little. Sarah and Josh hired several of our pieces for her wedding, from log slices for that really impressive cheese tower to brass candle sticks used in the table centres, tin baths, drinks dispensers, glass candle cylinders, water bottles and lawn games.

wpid404410-Sanyukta-Sherestha-handmade-rustic-wedding-1

wpid404480-Sanyukta-Sherestha-handmade-rustic-wedding-36

I love to see what our brides create and this has to be one of my all time favourite marquee looks, beautifully simple, rustic and relaxed. The mix of soft colours through the candles and the shine from the brass and copper accents has me swooning still. For the full wedding head here.

“We used a Norfolk based company called Little Lending Co to hire some bits and pieces for the day, like brass candle holders, lawn games and water bottles for the tables. They were little touches which I think made a big contribution to the day and it was great to be able to use a local company. Penny at the Little Lending Co was terrific and very helpful.”
Thanks so much to Sarah and Josh for your kind words. Wish you both the most wonderful life together. X

WHY HIRE YOUR WEDDING DECOR?

This post might sound totally, utterly obvious…but bear with me. I think theres more than just a few reasons to hire your wedding decor though, so many of my Little Lenders past would say the same I’m sure.

Image via The Lane

– It’s cheaper. (Well, duh)
Ok so generally when you hire props its about a third of the price of buying to hire. Thats generally how we price our range so that we can pass on that saving right away. Popular items like apple crates, ladders, milk churns have all seen a huge rise in pricing over the last 18 months as they’re super sought after. Don’t spend more than you need to to get the pieces you love right now.

– You don’t have tonnes of stuff to sell/shift after the wedding.
Yep, another obvious point right?! I had masses of stuff left after our wedding, we just went on honeymoon and left it all in the kitchen in a heap. Erm, not entirely what you want to return to from a tropical getaway. Let your hire company deal with the after math.

56dd11b119bfc

– Storage.
So you’re getting married in 18 months time, that’s 18 months of having to stash and find a home for wedding stuff. Ours was actually everywhere, behind the sofa, under beds, we’d filled the spare room. It drove me crazy and it can turn your home into a garage!

– Delivery.
Unless you’re really close to your wedding venue getting everything you’ve collected to your venue can be a total mission. I’ve known couples hire vans for the whole weekend, because it’s not just getting it there it’s getting it back too. Yes you generally have to pay more to get items delivered and collected but unless you have someone who can just do loads of car loading through the day or you’re friends with a white van man it could get a bit tricky.

stilleben_506c019eddf2b3309d001149
Image via Trendster.

– Finding what you love can be a big headache.
I am all about the DIY weddings, but finding and sourcing exactly what you’re after for all the tables or for a mega display can take some doing. I’ve been running LL for over 2 years now and relying on the charity shops, boot sales and vintage stores is just not the same as it used to be, popular vintage and rustic items don’t seem to be on the shelves because they’re quickly snapped up. When you need a certain number to complete a ‘look’ it can become a real mission. Don’t forget we can help with sourcing if there is something specific you’re after…

Screen Shot 2016-04-19 at 17.01.51

– Being indecisive is OK.
I know that getting married means making a lot of decisions. I changed my mind ALOT. So hiring your decor means you have some flexibility, I always try to accommodate changes from my lenders because I know there can be lots of mind changing and venue restrictions or weather dependability can pop up later down the line.
We also add decor to our range frequently so as the decor trends change through your wedding planning you might spot more additions on our IG feed or FB page so your wedding can evolve with what you’re into and loving for when you say I do.

Don’t rush into buying anything just yet folks…

IN-HOUSE STYLING WITH GODWICK GREAT BARN.

So I am totally buzzing about a new partnership with one of my absolute favourite Norfolk barns, Godwick Great Barn. Many of you may know I already work at Godwick as one of their freelance wedding planners and adore the barn and all its majesty, I’m really rather lucky to call it my work place. I love working with newly engaged couples, helping them along with their wedding planning journey so I can’t wait to take on an additional role as ‘Godwick Barns in-house styling consultant.’

I’m kind of obsessed with decor and with all those little styling details that make weddings so personal to each couple. I’m really excited to be able to offer Godwick couples an initial venue styling consultation when they first book the barn to talk all things wedding style for the best part of an hour. Couples can use it as a chance to find out how to make the most of the space and start thinking about what they want to achieve with their wedding decor.

I love finding out what makes a couple tick, their loves and life together that might inspire how they transform the barn. It can be a little daunting at the start of planning when faced with a big blank space, all be it a very beautiful one, so a little guidance of what works and what’s gone before can really get the creative ideas swirling.

If you’re a new Godwick couple I look forward to meeting you really soon, come loaded with any ideas, Pinspirations and anything you both love.

ALTERNATIVE PHOTO BACKDROPS.

If you’re getting hitched this Summer you’ll most definitely be thinking about details and the little design elements that will make your day super special and personalised. If you’re looking for some inspo for a beautiful back drop for your guest photos, which is a little more sophisticated than a box of props in front of a red curtain inside a shoe-box sized booth, then this post may spark a few ideas. I didn’t have a photo booth at my own wedding because I wanted to have pictures of the day that were totally natural, but something can really be said for staging gorgeous group shots that you’ll treasure forever.

DRAPES
Cost effect and oh so simple to add a little interest to a wall or corner at your venue. Mix different textures of fabrics and also foliage in for a little more detail.

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 21.57.30

STRUCTURES
Create a structure to add flowers to – From old screens and doors to metal frames and wire grids for something more contemporary.

ORGANIC
Talk to your florist about creating an organic wall feature. Use old ladders or frames to start the piece off. So beautiful as a stand alone feature on your big day. These pieces would work best hung or placed off centre for framing the shots.

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 21.54.00

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 22.10.17

BOHEMIAN
Go for a bohemian corner or space for guests to relax as well as provide a stunning photo opportunities. Use peacock chairs or tipi frames as a starting point to build up the area and lay Persian rugs. Add candles for evening photography to be soft and intimate.

It’s about creating something beautiful and timeless and to look back at your wedding photos in years to come and enjoy them just as much.

DIY REINDEER FLOWER CROWN.

IMG_2067

Anyone who know’s me knows I love reindeers. Like a lot. My house is home to a huge skull in the lounge called 10 spike Mike, and at Christmas 10 spike Mike gets the full works on decor, lights, foliage, hanging ornaments….But why stop at Christmas. Skulls and antlers are HUGE for wedding decor right now and dressed with seasonal blooms they have to be the perfect Boho wedding detail.
If you fancy making a flower crown for your reindeer, this is what you need…

IMG_2008

YOU WILL NEED:
Aluminum Wire, Thin Florists reel wire (ask your local florist), Scissors, Stag or reindeer skull (We used Roy from the range, yes he has a name!)

FRESH FLOWERS from the Swaffham and Fakenham Florists: (Note, not all of these will be in season now but talk to your florist about alternatives)

Bubblegum Rose, Cartamus, Umbrella Fern, Phlox, Purple Dahlia, Achamilla Mollis, Craspedia, Red Dahlia, Blue Delphinium, Nervine.

IMG_2012

– Start by adding a string loop through the back of the skull for something to hang it from. Then measure the aluminum wire around the Stags head for the size of the crown. Create a hook and loop to attach the crown at back. Attach reel wire to aluminum wire by winding it around and around tightly to ensure secure.

IMG_2035
IMG_2016
IMG_2018

– Cut all the flowers and foliage about 2 inches from the head. Cut umbrella fern, and pull pieces away to expose the stem. Snip small sprigs of Achamilla Mollis and Blue Delphinium to make the most of the flower throughout the crown.

IMG_2028
IMG_2030
IMG_2032

– Using umbrella fern as a starting point, hold onto the aluminum wire and wind reel wire around the stem. Fern works well at the ends of a crown because of its natural point. Once you have wound the reel wire around the flowers and foliage trim down the stem and keep winding to ensure secure and continue adding in.

IMG_2040
IMG_2046

– Start to mix different colors and textures through with foliage with a continual winding of the thin wire. Group smaller flowers to create a focal point in 2 or 3’s. Use a decent amount of reel wire around the stems to ensure flowers are all secure.

– Push the wire into the stem and the neck until you feel resistance on the large Dahlia. This supports the flower as it is a focal point and ensures it stays in place.

IMG_2044

IMG_2047

IMG_2049

IMG_2053

– Remember to pull the flower crown straight every so often to ensure flowers don’t twist round in different directions. The crown should be thickest at the center and thin out towards the ends.

IMG_2057

IMG_2060

– Make a hook at the end of the aluminum wire to secure the crown and create a loop with the other end to hook on. Cut off the steel wire and wind final wire end around the crown tightly.

Ta-Dah! You’re skull is ready to rock!
If you’d love to dabble at making your own flower crown for the day you need to check out the Swaffham and Fakenham florists flower crown parties!

HOW TO MAKE YOUR WEDDING DIFFERENT TO EVERYONE ELSE’S.

Making your wedding different doesn’t mean you need to be totally mad and off the wall with your ideas. It’s just thinking about the things that make you two happiest as a couple.

Image via Nouba wedding blog.

Image via Nouba wedding blog.

What makes you two tick?
Let your world and your loves in life inspire your day. Don’t go changing what you love in real life just to make an ‘ideal’ wedding.
Take inspiration from what you do together; places you spend your Summers, music you dance to, art exhibitions you’ve loved, films you’ve laughed at, a poem that hangs in your home, a book you quote to each other, a person that inspires you, colours in your home…you get the gist.

Think outside the wedding box.
During the planning process keep a notebook and your camera with you at all times. This might sound obvious but you never know when inspiration will strike. You might hear a song lyric you’d love written up for a backdrop or you might see an incredible street artist with the perfect coloured pants for the grooms men…

Images via She is Magic Tumblr + Green wedding shoes.com

Step away from Pinterest.
Be inspired by who you are not by what others have done. It’s all too easy to get inspired by those pretty pins and want to do it just like they have. I’m a big Pinterest fan, use it but always let yourselves shape the day and the final design.

Bring a bit of yourselves to the reception.
Bring items you love from home to dress your venue, let your current obsessions in interior decor become part of the decor. Take inspiration from your hobbies. Think about using your nicknames if you’re not too worried about formalities. If there’s something you both own that everyone knows you for it should totally make the wedding decor.

Images via Brit.co + Intimate weddings.com

Get family and friends involved.
Friends and family will love being asked to get involved. Ask your family what they have tucked in garages and lofts, it’s bound to be a talking point on the day too. If you love looking back, maybe you have some old nostalgia tucked away that can be pulled out for the big day?

Let planning your wedding be a personal as possible, after all it’s all about the joining of two hearts and two families.
